Website design and HTML build for the City of Edmonton

Project Details:

The fight violence campaign is an intiative between the City of Edmonton, and media outlets which encourages youth to fight violence. Caldwell Creative was brought in as a front end web design specialist. Creating several looks for the website gave us a better understanding of how far we could take the existing creative developed by Artsmith Communications. Under Artsmith's creative direction we explored various visual directions for the web site.

After selection of a design concept we set out to work with Redengine's development team. This close collaboration enabled Caldwell Creative to develop XHTML files that were seemlessly integrated with Redengine's content management system.

The audio player also presented a unique challenge. Located in the primary content area we developed a flash audio player that is persistant on every page. Where traditional players reset when a new html page is loaded, this audio player never skips a beat. Incorporating state managment and communication between flash and the html container makes this audio player unique.

Considerations:

With the majority of creative being provided by Artsmith, Caldwell Creative worked with their creative team to build the initial website designs. Keeping the visual style and messaging in sync with the rest of the print and media messaging was crucial to maintinging project integrity.
